Setup
A coin flip decides who goes first each round. 3 zone cards sit in the centre of each zone. The first player receives 7 random cards plus the Sān — a 3 of a random suit; the second player receives 7 random cards. Players alternate placing one card per turn.

The Sān 三

Whoever goes first is dealt an extra 3 of a random suit — the Sān. It can share a suit with a zone card — but never be the same card. Eight cards against seven: the edge for moving first.
